Simple Forest Meditation
One day I asked my Spiritual Teacher how anyone can do a revitalising forest meditation, any time of the day, even for a few minutes on a busy weekday.
“There is no need for complicated techniques, neither expensive clothing or taking uncomfortable body postures. It is helpful to wear comfortable clothes depending on the weather.
You can visit any forest, park or local woodland. Sit quietly in a comfortable position. Relax and enjoy the peace and calmness of nature around you.”
I like to close my eyes and take a few deep breaths to forget my daily troubles. Sometimes I get inspired to draw or paint. I may receive an idea for a creative project I am already working on. You may be inspired to write a poem or a song. Feel free to be creative and continue experimenting. Do not worry if you do not receive any of these. Your body, mind and soul become refreshed and you can continue your day with a renewed energy.
Have you ever felt that delicate scent on your hair after spending time in nature?
Meditative walk in the woods
Sometimes, there may not be a suitable bench to sit on. You can also do a meditative walk. It is important not to hurry and pay attention to the beauty of the landscape around you;
the scents, the trees and the flowers, the sunshine, the birdsong or the breeze.
It takes some practice to switch off your thoughts about daily troubles while walking. Such walks always offer a rewarding and refreshing experience.
By the way,
spending time in a forest can help you sleep better and helps to heal depression and anxiety!
A woodland walk during lockdown and today`s challenging times can be refreshing to the soul and a wonderful relief from stress.
Take some time to visit the woods whenever you can, enjoy the peace and serenity that is always available to you for free ,every day, all year round!
