Nowadays, talking about the spirits of Nature is seen as “childish” or “naive”. It is so because there is no scientific evidence to prove the existence of such beings.
Through the centuries, however, numerous inspirational works have been created, especially in art, literature and poetry. Surely, we shall not forget about the magical world of the fairy tales!
My aim is not to contradict modern science but to give a few interesting examples of the long forgotten connection and communication between people of the past and the nature spirits. I believe that the topic is not approachable by the intellect but rather by inspiration and imagination.
The other day, I came accross a remarkable work, called “Plant Lore Legends and Lyrics” written by Richard Folkard Jr, the book was published in 1884.

Personally, I am truly fascinated by the magical world of the fairy tales and I am often inspired by such works from the past.
I have recently re-worked one of my older paintings about a fairy queen at dawn:

More of such works coming soon...
